Thanks for the suggestions guys! I will plan on repotting this weekend and try and keep them semi-sheltered from the rain. Any rain in So Cal tends to feel like a monsoon to us. I just moved into this house a couple of months ago, and the yard has been largely ignored and left to go wild for the last couple of years. I'm in the process of removing a lot of dead trees and unwanted shrubs. The plan was to keep all the citrus in pots, and place them in the general vicinity of where they will eventually be planted. That way I can make sure they like the area and get enough sun before I stick them in the ground. I'm assuming the transplanting shouldn't be done in the heat of summer, so I would be aiming for around October for planting. If you had an area to amend and you had a good 9 months to let stuff "settle", what would you do? I understand that you don't want to plant citrus with a bunch of fresh compost because the tree will sink as the compost decomposes further. I'm guessing my soil isn't TOO horrible, I live in an area where every other house seems to have a couple of huge citrus in the yard

Donna, she had 2 before the horrid weather. She had pushed them down to the bottom and added feathers. (the ducks are back). Thursday I witnessed what looked to be a rape in her box. As I saw it she was not open to the bird sex. The next day he brought her a feather before he came in the box and did it again! LOL. Nest box cams can ofer too much info! LOL. Sitting with her head stickig out is exactly why I dont do Wren guards with these guys. I do with all other nesters. give her a few more days, I am sure you will see new egs.

I enjoyed reading this tonight after a very busy weekend and want to thank you so much for sharing this. Your birding experiences are so interesting. I loved seeing the little bluebird finally make the leap in the movie and all of your photos are so incredible. Poor little mama bluebird with the hurt leg. I sure hope it heals correctly enough for her to get use from it. She is very unique in appearance and I wonder if any of her babies will look like her. Please keep us posted if you see any resemblance. The high winds have been so hard on our little birds this year.

Colleen, my secretary used to bake me lemon bars every year, I liked them better than cake. Now, unfortunately, I'm retired and have no secretary and so I have to bake my own. LOL, I like that. And I seem to do it regularly... plllog, I only saw one single recipe that used the dulce de leche, and that was only in the remarks about the recipe. I thought it sounded pretty good, so I did it. Of course, most of the recipes were very similar so after I looked at 3 or 4 they all started looking pretty much the same which is probably why the dulce de leche kind of "jumped out" at me. Carol, I agree about the whipped cream, except I don't even need cake sometimes! How could whipped cream possibly be bad? So, now back to my healthy eating, at least for now. I have mizuna and baby bok choi ready to use, and I'm picking asparagus daily, so I have no excuse to not eat my vegetables. I'll be thinking of cake, though. Annie
