Blue Bird Babies

We have a nest of 5 babies blues. They are huge and do not fit the nest of box anymore. I was surprised they did not leave today, but I think tomorrow.

I am feeding meal worms and Mom and Dad will almost sit and beg for more.

We have a camera in the nest box. We also have one on a batch of woodduck eggs that hatched today. So we may lose every one on camera tomorrow and of course I have a Dr. appointment, so I may miss it all. Must have hubby re-cord it for me.

I will miss watching them everyday.

Dont' be sad!!They may come to your yard to feed in a few weeks.Next year they may come back to nest in your yard.This year we had 2 families that nested in our yard.We are quite sure that they were last years off springs.

Well the wood ducks jumped and are now sitting in the grass along the edge of the pond and the baby blues are lierally hanging out the door of their house. I am sure they will leave soon.

I put up an old umbrella--I used a plastic tie and fastened the handle to the pole of a shepherd's hook-the main part of the umbrella is resting on the 2 hooks of the pole-Mom does not seem to mind it at all. Hope it helps a little. Now if the wind will go down and not up I think we will be fine.

Did a count later today and there are 4 babies. Mom did not eat the meal worms I put out today. Weather has gone to not being so hot and so I guess she is happy with the bugs that she can get on her own. She and Dad were busy at the nest site and I saw several other blues in the area (not sure if they are their young but they seems to tolerate them being around, so I am guessing that they are.)

Xstitcher54 With all due respect....If you look at these member profiles, you will see that they are new to the board. I have talked to some on these people. The only mention of "copy" does say she is willing to trade. It is not a violation of any law to GIVE away a chart. Maybe she was hoping that someone would pass along a used chart or two. I personally am looking for the two new teachers. For me it is the expense right after Christmas. If I don't get them from someone, I will eventually buy them when I can afford them. The neatest thing happened the other day, Hubby was leaving to go to work, he rides his bicycle, and was getting it out of the shed(which has a front door that is a sliding glass door without the door!) and a robin was sitting right there on a picnic table squaking at him, he commented how weird it was to me, so I went into the shed to see if she might have a baby in there(worried as we have a cat that lives in there), looked around couldn't see anything but the cat...so was reaching down to pick up a garden tool right at the front door...and there was a baby robin....frozen in fear!!! I put my gloves on and picked it up and put it on a branc of a bush, near where mama robin was...by this time poppa robin was there too! and boy did momma put up a fuss!!! She musta been giving that baby what for!!! I walked away and when I came back they were all gone!!! Was so neat to get that close to the baby!!!I felt so good saving it from kitty!!!
