They do flock together I have had over twenty at a time. They do have flashes of yellow if that helps ID them. This is one i took a while ago.

Pine Siskins are northern breeders (northern U.S. and southern Canada, and also out in the western mountains). But in winter, they migrate all they way down to nearly the Gulf. You are quite likely to see one (they've been in TN all winter) but especially now that spring migration is underway. They should be out of your area by the end of May, but there are some breeding Pine Siskins in the Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains too.

Thank you for the info. Yes that's what the birds are. I guess they're just passing through probably.

I've had more pine siskins at my feeders here in NC this year than ever before, it's been unusual.

I have lots too and this is the first time I have ever had any. I have over 20 at a time! I had a really bad time with one this morning. One had flew on a shepard's hook that I have and when I tried to help it, I noticed that one of it's legs was barely hanging and it looked like it was bleeding through the stomach. It stayed alive but barely. I tried my best to help but I knew there was nothing anyone could do at this point. It was in pure pain and misery and I'm not really sure what even happened to it. I shot it and killed it because it was suffering so bad. It was sad.
