I apologize that I've not visited the forum in a while-

I've been using Twitter and Twitpic to post photos rapidly so I've not posted here in months. After Angie contacted me I found I couldn't post to the forum from this computer. She did some research and advised me that Firefox was the problem so I switched to Internet Explorer, and it worked.

Well... I'm not certain if Amaryllis Belladonna is one for indoor forcing, per se... it might be able to grow outdoors in your area, actually. It has slightly different growth habits than Hippeastrum bulbs, I believe. However, I think it could be forced if it received the same excellent pre-care as Hippeastrum bulbs. This is one I am not too certain about, having just recently bought and planted my first ones. I'm in the process right now of trying to force mine, and so far, all I've got is green leaf growth. I'd suggest doing a bit of online research into this one... it's the only species in its genus, I think, and is not exactly like the Hippeastrum bulbs we're used to. Unlike Hippeastrums, which originate in South America, Amaryllis Belladonna originates in South Africa... I just did some reading on it myself, but with my memory, I'd have to go back and read it all again to tell you any particulars! It's a gorgeous flower, though, and is an essential part of bulb breeding, in my opinion. I'm glad I found a few for a reasonable price, like you! Are you planning on indoor growing with this one?

You say he has trouble with dexterity and getting the wallet back into his pocket then losing it. So maybe the answer is not to get a different wallet, but to not carry the wallet a pocket. A lot of older people, both men and women, (and lots of not so old persons too) carry their stuff around in a belted pouch. Sometimes these are called 'fanny packs' but they can be worn in front. They are big enough to not require a lot of dexterity to stuff things into it. Using a biker wallet with a chain connecting to the inside of the pouch would help even more. I don't think one of these fanny packs would draw attention to suspicions of "carrying a lot of money around" as they are very popular with lots of people. A lot of elderly use them because they have to carry so many medications around. If your dad is 'old school' he may not take to the idea of using something he views as a purse but it's worth suggesting it to him.

Thanks so much!

The internet has been barely functioning here at the hotel since I last posted so I've been unable to get back to this forum, but I did go to work yesterday, although barely able to get around.

I love the Hornbill and the Tailorbid the most!!! The Tailorbird looks like a Wren, but I read that it is a Warbler.~~Angie

Yes, when I was well enough to drive the scooter I went to the hospital to be checked out by a doctor before returning to work. A bout of food poisoning in early Dec. showed none of my stand-by home remedies or medicine prescribed by the doctor worked, except for MMS drops I'd brought from the U.S. MMS kills anything, but it also makes me nauseated, so I had to take the drops while already feeling that way. Still it took several days to gets things stopped, and I didn't think I was going to make it.

I plan to go birding at Khao Yai National Park tomorrow even though I'm a still a bit wobbly. I hope one of the hornbills is still hanging around the same area

Rachel, Please do take care of yourself, and don't push it too hard. It may not be the best idea to be out birding for hours in the Thai heat when you are still so puny. We'd like to see you back home in the good ole USA, bird pics or not.~~Angie
