need help with Van Ert trap

Hello,

OK so I'm ready to start killing HOSP. But the traps came with instructions not to put them up unless a HOSP is actively nesting in a box. I got a new house because I was planning to put the trap in it and put it by the feeder (which the sparrows use but not the blues.) I have 2 traps, 3 good houses and one new/cheap one, and blues are seriously honing in on one of the houses. I haven't seen the sparrows seriously investigating the houses since the day I found that they had killed my chickadees (about a week ago.)

Any advice on a plan of action? I don't really want to wait for them to start a nest---what if they want the box the blues have just chosen?

I'm feeling lost and helpless...

Thanks,

Ann
