Hello again, thanks for the responses. Bunnygurl...thanks for having faith in me!! The lone survivor of the first batch got to 10months old and then croaked, so I guess at least these have bettered that...so far anyway! I really hope I get at least one to flower for me...else I guess I will have to return to Thailand to check out the huge one that got me started with this DR lark!! lol!! Blutarski...how about adding a layer of small gravel chips to the top of the pots..I'm certain this helps the water drain away fast from around the caudex and help prevent it from getting rotten. The seeds were planted late on 10th Feb 2008 and came through during the 5th night!! They were my 2nd attempt with a batch of 10 seeds from eBayUK, and again I got 90% germination. They're potted in 3.5inch diameter pots and the biggest is just a fraction short of 6inches tall. Mine didn't seem to have a great deal of roots when I re-potted the other week, but since I did and have been watering very thoroughly, heating at night and continued to feed weekly, they have come on in leaps and bounds. I'm sure yours will be fine also...any pics?? Martin...thanks, and yes they are cute! Front left has been pinched but I may not have explained it corectly above, sorry. I did it 2 weeks ago as it showed no sign of branching, today there is just a hint of a couple of branch buds where it begins to narrow off. It is centre & right front that I think I'm going to pinch out as the stem is elongating rapidly and the branches are not. Ideally, I would like the branches to be of a similar length to the main stems on all of them as I dont like the tall thin style. So, I keep my fingers tighty crossed for some flowers!! I'll let you know if it happens, but meanwhile I've got to keep them growing!! Cheers! Gill.

I like watching birds and don't like to see them hurt, but why pick on cats? It's their nature to hunt small animals. They've been doing it for over thousands of years. Aren't people more of threat to birds than cats anyway? With all the building that goes on, birds will probably become extinct one day. I live in what is supposed to be a rural area but it's like anytime a developer (or whoever) sees trees, they tear them down to build houses and stores. It's getting out of hand. My personal rule is that I don't interfere with nature. I would've left the nest alone. If birds are that stupid to build nests where predators can get to them then they deserve whatever they get. Around here dogs are the biggest threat to birds. Several of the neighborhood dogs have a bad habit of killing small animals. One of them even ate my father's rooster! The only birds my cat has killed is those annoying Blue Jays who were just asking for it. Those cocky things fly around teasing the cat so when one gets eaten I don't feel sorry for it. Stupid birds.

Love the pictures! I can't get over how tiny it is. Snakes I can take 2 weeks ago I went down the basement. It was fairly early for my back problems (9ish) so I wasn't in great shape to begin with. I get to the bottom of the steps & turn left and was greeted by a 27 inch snake. I can deal with anything but snakes & roaches freak me out. I swear my muscle spasms were so bad my legs almost gave out from under me. I composed myself & tried to deal with it myself, trying to get him into a clear rubbermade container but he got away. Of course he went under a lawn mower then behind a bunch of boxes. Thankfully my son was working fairly close and could come home and help me. This is the 2nd snake in my basement, 1st one was a baby. I'm still petrified to go down there alone. Did I say I hate snakes? lol
