I guess it's fixed. Haven't had any more pop-ups (which by the way were all microsoft ie popups). AVG says I'm virus free. AdAware is still finding spyware but that may be coming in with WeatherBug. I LOVE having the current temp on the toolbar next to the time. Now if I could trust the weather nitwits predictions. They're calling for 34º tonight and tomorrow night. That's TOO close to freezing.

Cyn, they typically fledge between 17-19 days old. During fledgling, the parents will be singing and calling them to encourage them to exit. They may also have food and briefly land at the hole and fly off with the food. You will know they fledged if you watch the box for some amount of time and don't see the parents visit. In my case, they were chit chattering to get me away from nearby trees. It was loud and they'd perch close to me. This gave me the signal that they likely went. I peeked into the box. If they're there, they will sense you and you will hear them hunker down inside the box. If they've fledged, you'll likely not hear anything, and the bluebirds won't land nearby and chatter at you or dive at you. I was only dived at once after fledging while at the box. For me here in N.E. Ohio, my blues typically fledge on day 19. Rarely have they fledged earlier than this. This year was the 2nd year I could recall having bluebirds fledge in July on day 19. My first successful nest ever fledged in June on day 17. Don't think I've had them fledge sooner than this, and that was my 2nd season. This is my 6th year with the bluebirds. ~Tim~

Hey -- Thanks for the IM about the bluebird nestling -- I can't log in to Garden Web for some reason, and haven't been able to for some time now. ANYWAY -- I could read the post. The poster says the baby was up in the opening looking out, calling out, and was not tangled in nest material. In addition, both parents are feeding. I would let it go, at least another day, I think. UNLESS they look and see that there is a lot of blowfly - one baby is vulnerable to an infestation, since he/she would be the only food source in the nest. They should be able to check the nest for blowfly, since they lifted the baby up and it did not fledge earlier in the day. In fact, I would go check for blowfly while the adults are watching me (probably having a fit at this stage in the nesting) and IF the baby DID fledge while looking for the blowfly, the parents would see it -- and it could hardly be called a PREMATURE fledging if it's nestmates went two days ago. Did they mention if this was a late hatching egg? Maybe that's the case and this kid is right on schedule. Hopefully, it will go on its own -- AND SOON! Malinda
