As I research more on the suggestion by floral_uk z.8/9 SW UK regarding Talinum plants, I've discovered that this plant may be the Talinum fruticosum (T. triangulare). Although all the pictures I've seen show that the Talinum fruticosum has purple flowers, this species can also have yellow, pink, red, or white flowers. So I believe this plant is indeed the Talinum fruticosum (T. triangulare). It is actually eaten as a vegetable in some countries, maybe one day I'll nibble on one of its leaves. Thanks very much.

I remember the mix did list "dwarf sunflowers" on it. I'm not seeing buds, which is why I was concerned they might be weeds.

I'm kind of hoping someone on this thread still has their notifications on - otherwise I'll start a new post. But you all knew your weeds - so I'm hoping you won't mind one more. I initially thought this was a mosquito plant -- it looked very similar to one that I planted about 5+ years ago that did not come back last year, so I was surprised to see this emergence - and several others - scattered around my flower beds. However, doing a search to confirm it was a mosquito plant (citronella) all mentioned that it has a nice smell when you crush the leaves. These plants/weeds have no such smell - and so far have no flowers - leading me to presume this is a weed. But it does have a nice tidy habit and is quite pretty - so I'm hoping someone tells me it will produce flowers - I'm ok with pretty weeds, as long as it produces flowers for the bees. :-) Thank you!

most anything that pops up and flowers this early in spring ... is usually a weed in our northern climes .... and im presuming you know the difference with a spring ephemeral and all the small spring bulbs ... do NOT let it seed ... or its great grandchildren will still be seeding in fall ... ken
