I love a lot of trees, always liked the big Norway maples. I'll transplant it in January when it is dormant. Don't really have even an inch anywhere for another tree unless it likes very wet standing water -- not the Norway. But will look for a spot. Did plant a Weeping Crabapple, molten lava, but it's at the far end of the yard. Will have to transplant that newbie crabapple in January too. Wonder what type it is? But the hawthornes .... drats .... no place for them, will have to dig them up in January and sneak them somewhere to plant. THANK YOU FOR THE IDs !!!

Oh, Sped, what a beautiful picture! She is special! You never know, we had Sara, a gray cat (with a red personality), for 22.5 years, so your pretty gal may have a few summers to go. Like us, you must run a good cat house, lol. PM2 - I WISH I lived near a conserved area. 'Fraid the closest we come is living near a right-wing Lutheran organist, but there are horses across and up the street. Fortunately, Ivy pretty much ignores the birds and has not killed one yet. She favors 4 legged things and the random slithering thing...yuck. Claire? Today I noticed a Blue Jay mimicking a Broad Winged Hawk. Darn thing got me to dash into the house for my camera thinking 'Oh, boy, BW hawk in flight" only to find this B Jay clearing out the bird feeder area with his mimicking. It is effective! Have you had a mimicking Blue Jay? The Broad Winged hawks fly overhead around noon time and shortly thereafter, this Blue Jay mimicks them. Jane

Well, there is a flu going around..... My luck, I'd then really get the flu, and have to take another day off. But alas, I really can't take off a Saturday in the spring. It's like December for other retailers. I'll be taking a little over a week off at the end of May to go see DD graduate and to go meet my new grandson, due May 13. So, I can't really afford to take any extra time off work. I know it'll be great fun for all! Sally

Oh wow...I had it pegged as a Northern Rough-Winged Swallow. I looks a lot like both...is there anyway to tell for sure? So many of the features are the same...even their environment.
