I love these birds. I am worried about mine. We have been cold and rainey, froze last night. I did see a bunch of them down at the lake yesterday with temps near 60. They have been here long enough to recover from migration and I did see a few dragonflys out yesterday. Lots of small bugs hovering over puddles. With last night being 29 im afraid all those bugs are gone. Today may get to 62 and sunny. She has not been in the box much the last couple days but has been spending the nights with her two eggs, she is in there now, looks like she is laying her 3rd egg. Poor thing. I hope they have enough energy to make it though this. It is going to rain again tomorrow afternoon and into the night. At least I can keep a watchful eye on the eggs with my cam box while she is gone for long periods trying to find food. I just checked, she was looking out the hole and she was panting heavily, I assumed she had laid but there are still only 2. Im am afraid for this bird.

Yeah, Mother Nature can be hard on these birds. Since they eat on the wing cold/wet weather can be deadly. Of the seven pairs we have two have laid eggs, first egg being on Thursday last week. Friday it rained all day and then changed to snow, we got about 2 inches of heavy wet snow. Saturday cold windy/snowy/sleeting. Sunday finally partly cloudy and upper 50's. Today will hit the upper 50's but windy and tomorrow starts the rain and cold again, highs in the 40's, not nice weather until the weekend. As of yesterday they each had three eggs, I know the one in the yard skipped laying yesterday but not positive about the other one. No clue if these eggs will make it with so many freezing nights and cold days. Or the adults for that matter, they need to fly far away to find food. I also have a three Blues eggs and seven Dee eggs due to hatch any day now.

Hope your TRES adults/eggs survive this cold snap and mine too.

Glad to hear yours skipped a day,I was worried. I hope that is what is going on here. Still no 3rd egg and she looks to be covering them. There are no feathers in the nest but she has grass over them. I did not see any ducks at the lake yesterday, they have always had soft white duck/swan feathers in the box. Maybe she is letting these eggs go and will start again with better weather. I just hope the adults survive, the next few days will tell.

What beautiful pictures. Tree Swallows are so pretty and make such cool sounds. I love having them around.

Great shots! I'm hoping mine survive this spring also. I've lost one adult, hopefully everyone else will make it. I also love the sounds of tree swallows and their flight!

It was just yesterday that they came and haven't wasted a hour to check
out my boxes, [clean] usually around 10 boxes get filled every year, love to have them around...lots of activity!
