They do things in their time...not ours! LOL If they started a nest they will be back when they are ready. Go to www.sialis.org (if you haven't already)and read up on how to keep them safe etc. How is you box mounted?

I had two nesting last year that were successful so I think the box is mounted fine. I guess maybe something could have spooked them. I didn't see anything funny with the box. But maybe it's the heat. I kthink they would have returned today if everything was ok.

A pair in my yard have done the same thing. Its very hot here as well. Another pair has 4 out of 5 eggs hatched and I'm very concerned about the babies being too hot. Fortunately we had a nice shower yesterday about 5, so I'm hoping for another shower today.

The pair of birds that just fledge 5 babies last week came back and made another nest, or another pair did, but they keep coming back to check on the nest, but no eggs so far. I don't want to take the nest out because they could start it up again.

It is common to have a nest started then stopped several times. They also don't always start laying right away after a nest is completed. Please leave the nests as they are.

Today she laid her first egg. Point taken. :)

Lisa is right Aloemem. Let them do it in their time. Sometimes, they drag their feet, and sometimes they move along quickly. They'll get it done. :o)
