Six blues on a wire? Does that mean the parent birds are still with their young? I never get to see more than two once they've started another brood. They always chase away the young from the previous clutch once the next clutch hatches. Aren't you lucky. What a sight that must have been.

Yes the parents are still with the fledgings, they fledged May 13th and they all come to the patio every morn & eve to eat the mealworms I put out for them....the babies even take baths in the bird bath I keep filled daily and they also sit on top of the house while mom & dad take turns flying in and out feeding the new babies that are now 7 days old. It is fun to watch sometimes the parents shoo them off while they're eating but not real often its more the robins that chase them away from the food and birdbath they think they own the yard LOL

All blues are differnt, some chase the first nesting fledglings away once the second nesting hatches and some don't. You are lucky yours aren't the chase them away type of blues. My best year was when we had two nestings of four each and all eight fledlgings and the two adults stayed until the end of Oct visiting the mealworm feeder. Last year my first nesters were allowed to stay too but this year mom and dad keep chasing the four first nesters away however they haven't left yet...the second nesting is due to fledge next week.

You are so lucky. I've never had the Blues not chase away the young as soon as the new clutch hatches. I know others have, but I've never experienced it myself. How cool to have them stay with you.
