tragic and strange-need help

My bluebirds are on their second nesting. The eggs hatched on May 7. I did not have a chance to check the nest this morning so I checked it tonight. The 4 nestlings are fine; however, one of the young from the first nesting was in the box with them - dead. He was not there yesterday, but had begun to smell by now. I removed him from the nest and buried him far away from the nest site. I'm afraid that the nest still smells and may attract a predator.

I do not have a clean nest to use.

What am I to do?
