Plant it in the spring about the same time you'd plant morning glories.

I planted mine in a pot so that if we were to have any very cold weather I could bring them inside. Transplanted them in the spring after any very cold weather and they did fine. I am still waiting to see if they do make it through the this winter as they are suppose to in our area. Only got seeds from one bloom, I guess the moths weren't around to do their work.

Thank you both for the information. Since my friend was generous with seeds, I'll save some to plant in the spring, and start some in a pot now.

When I purchased moonvine seeds, they recommended that you snip off a little of the seed and soak them in water for a couple of hours before planting. Supposedly the seeds are so hard, this helps them to germinate. I planted them in spring, and had beautiful blooms all summer. The hummingbird months especially love them!

A friend gave me seeds, and I didn't know it was a vine, so I planted it in the wrong spot - It's growing all up through the lantana & zinnias. Very pretty, but the poor plants are being strangled !

My donor friend warned me that the moonflower would take over if allowed! I plan to put them on the fence separating the pasture from our yard--they can do what they will, and can be seen and smelled from the patio. At lest, that's my plan . . . .
