What eggs are these?

I was cutting back a hedge in my garden and came across the nest. Does anybody know what type of bird eggs they are?.. i have put hedge trimmings back over to cover them but havent seen any birds visiting it.. Any ideas what i should do? btw i live in england ans weather temps are pretty cold right now.

Hello Landon, it looks like some sort of sparrow eggs, chipping or Clay-colored Sparrow?
When threatened, they might not be coming back, especially when just laying eggs [two eggs]

What should i do with them? take them to a local bird rescue or leave them and hope the mother comes back?

Eggshell color is the result of 2 genes, blue and brown.(really there are 13 or more genes and modifiers). The cause of a white shell is the lack of a gene for color.There may also be genes which whiten the shell even more. The green shades are results of the 2 dominant genes, brown and blue mixing, or sharing dominance. Brown is dominant over white. The brown is called ooporphryn, a chemical compound which results from hemoglobin metabolism. It can be removed as it is only on the outside of the shell, blue is throughout the shell as is white.A byproduct of bile formation is oocyanin, this is what causes the blue shells. Any time a brown egg layer is crossed with a white egger, resulting offspring will lay some shade of brown shelled eggs.

Hi Elisabeth! It's just starting to heat up over here in Germantown. Most of my nectaring plants are just getting going so the poor things are having to really work to get their nectar fix ... I've also had pearl crescents, question mark, red-spotted purple, zebra swallowtail, spicebush, painted lady, sulphurs, easter-tailed blue, spring azures, great-spangled fritallary and hackberry. And lots of luna moths this year, all males so far. But the very, very best was a cedar hairstreak - I was so excited I almost messed in my pants! And of course by the time that I returned with the camera, it was gone. But I sure hope there is a next time!

I'm curious as well! Coincidentally, just this morning I noticed that my entire african daisy plant is covered in something that looks just like your picture...like tiny poppy seeds. They were not there a couple days ago. I have not seen a lot of any bugs or spiders with the exception of being absolutely overrun with picture winged flies, but I can't find a pic of their eggs anywhere to compare. There's probably hundreds of these eggs on the plant, I hope I'm not breeding anything I don't want!

Leave them. Bird rescue is not able to incubate them or feed baby birds.

Okay thanks for the help everyone.. i used some old brances to cover the nest more and the mother has returned :)

This is great news,.....it's best to ignore the nest completely and not go there.
Everytime we walk to a nest it would leave a scent trail and can hone in predators more easily.

Hello! You said the mother has come back now, which is great. Do you now what what kind of bird it is now that you see Mom? Can you tell if there are more than 2 eggs now? Always fun to watch an active nest.
