Someone else on this forum took one baby to a rehabber a few years ago and the others fledged in the meantime. When they returned the baby the others all gathered round and recognized him. His name was Juicer. Maybe someone can look up the "return of Juicer" post. She had pictures of him in a cage on the front porch with everyone around. It was awesome.

Were you able to get him back in the box? Get a hole reducer on? Did the parents find him and feed him? Did you get in touch with a rehabber? Let us know please we all worry.

Re-posting my question in case you don't look at the older post. Do you need a rehabber or do you have one already, just in case. Where do you live in New York - I know a rehabber but in Westchester County.

GOod morning. He jumped right out of his box last evening, so we took him inside for the night. He's back out in the yard and the parents are around - I think they found him because they are swooping a starling that was at the feeder.

I am in Westchester County and would love the name of the rehabber. Unfortunately I have to go to work today but if the baby blue is still around this evening and still can't fly I will call the rehabber. Maybe I can get here for lunch and see what's going on.

Hi everyone. Anita gave me the name of a rehabber right in my home town!! I called the rehabber this morning and plan to leave work at lunchtime and run the baby BB over to the animal hospital. The baby is in the back yard again, in the grass, unable to fly and not really moving around much at all. The parents are watching him, staying nearby and trying to feed him (he's not eating too much). Surprisingly they did not swoop us at all this morning when we went to take baby out of the shoebox, or when we walked right up to the baby to see how it's doing. I will keep you all posted and let you know what the rehabber and vet have to say. I hope baby is still there when I get home later.

Patty thank you for trying. For future reference , a hole guard 1&1/4" in dia would have kept the baby in the box but still allowed the parents to feed it. You can make one out of cardboard in a pinch. I sure hope baby is still there at lunch. Did you put it in a protected spot?

Another update. We went home at lunchtime and the baby was still outside, luckily in the shade near some shrubs. Mom and pop were still around watching out for him. Once again the parents did not swoop when we took their baby and placed him in a shoe box. We took him to the vet and rehabber. Baby was examined and is missing some tail feathers and wing feathters. They thought perhaps something tried to attack him, but we suspect that his wing got stuck inside the box. Anyway, the wing is NOT broken or fractured (just missing feathers), and the rehabber was more than happy to nurse him back to good health. He will be staying with her getting antibiotics and rest and will be set free when he's ready in my backyard :) I will keep everyone updated on his progress.

One thing that is troubling me is that I'm afraid Mom and Pop will be mad at us and may move away. I just hope they hang around long enough to see their baby again!! We cleaned out the box this morning.

Patty, I'm so glad that they gave you good news. Did you meet dr. randell? His son and my daughter went to school together, and I know the son but not the father. His reputation is very good.
Quick Story:
Do you remember last year when I had an injured bluebird in my yard, and I was looking all over for a rehabber or vet that could help me. True story: I had my nestcam on TV when the Comcast Cable man came to fix something in my system. He looked at the Nestcam and we started talking birds. I told him about the injured bluebird and he told me that HIS WIFE is a rehabber, and that is Donna who works at the vet where you brought Baby Blue. I believe you might call that a coincidence or perhaps Karma, or God watching over us when we need him. It was amazing. Now they were able to help you and your baby. Please let me know how he makes out.

I vaguely recall your injured BB -- did he make out OK?

It really is a small world and every once in a while we're reminded of that. There is another rehabber in the office now in addition to Donna - her name is Lia. Very nice young lady who promised to take good care and ensured that she has plenty of meal worms. She went in an office with the vet to examine the BB but I didn't get to meet him.

Glad the vet will let you release him. Here's why. An amazing story. This bird was at the rehabber for 6 weeks b/c of the same thing. Try this link (I hope it works)and see what you think.

Hi Patty, unfortunately my bird was an adult male and I couldn't catch him. I don't think he could eat and wouldn't be lured into a trap. He disappeared and I'm sure he must have died. Very sad, but I kept the phone numbers for future reference.

Here is a link to the injured baby bluebird - he's really sweet and adoreable and I think he will make it now that I've been able to see The Juicer's pictures!! It really is nearly an identical story. I just hope we have such a wonderful ending to our story!! We're going to call our baby bb "Lucky". Looks like it might take 6 weeks before we see him again. Both Juicer and Lucky's stories are so sweet. Those pictures of Juicer reuniting with his family made me tear up big time. Congrats to both of you ladies on two very good saves. You have all my admiration!
