Nothing wrong with that picture at all. Dees are wonderful little birds. Love to watch the way they bob and fly and crack the sunflower seeds at the feeder. How many do you have, have you checked?

I haven't looked in the house. However, with all the tiny dee noise, I think there are quite a few.

Until the last few days, the female has been inside the house about 90 percent of the time. Even now, she spends a lot of time in there. The male hunts and brings food for the chicks and he defends the house. The two of them spend some time together in the evenings. After they fledge, I'll fill in some blanks of their story.

We once had dees in a nestbox on our deck when we lived in the woods. They would come and go feeding the babies, even while we hosted parties on the deck, like we were not even there. When the babies fledged, ten little tuxedo fluffballs hopped all around on the deck for hours, and learned to fly and land on the deck furniture. We watched as each one took that leap of faith into the woods. A day to remember.

Both parents are still feeding this morning. These are going to be healthy kids.

Its interesting that the male always flies to the entrance, waits for mom to show up, and if she doesn't, he will go in and feed the kids himself.

Here, mom shows up and is ready to take the greenie to the kids. Dad flies off for more immediately.
