Mockingbird Question

I have some mockingbird babies hopping around my garden, and chirping like they are in distress. They hop up in the wax myrtle and sit and chirp like they need food or care. They flex their wings as if trying to fly, but just aren't quite able to get off the ground. An adult mockingbird is staying really close, on my fence, on various trees and shrubs around the yard.

Is this normal for mockingbirds - to hang around for a while before leaving? I've never seen this type of behavior with baby birds. I have a small backyard fenced with a tall wooden fence, so it is relatively safe for them, I just feel like I need to do something to help.
