Burpee offers seeds for a "seedless" tomato. It isn't truly seedless but apparently has very few seeds.

The so-called "stuffing" or "stuffer" tomato varieties might work. They have seeds to but in small clumps that are easily removed from their large cavities. Flavor is very bland IMO.

ty dave i will look into them i know she does eat romas as they got thick skin but agion taste is bland i even took the seeds out of a sungold so she can try the taste as she not eaten one as sweet before (i grew sungolds in uk for 12 years ) i just one to get a nice tasting one for here thats not hard to get seed from ty agion

my wife as diverticalites (hope spelled right) and i am looking for a tomato for next year thats sweet,thick skins and not many seeds and meaty can anyone help me with this or at least few seeds and meaty that i can take the seeds out easy

Ty, the conventional advice for folks who have diverticulitis has been to not eat anything with small seeds such as strawberries, blueberries, even tomatoes and on and on.

But there's been much research done that shows that small seeds are NOT the problem and you can find that information online by doing a Google search on diverticulitis.

You can also get a second opinion from another gastroenterologist.

my mother had diverticulosis, which means the condition exists, as do I. Hers proceeded to diverticulitis, mine has not. When inflammation occurs with symptoms then it's called diverticulitis, the itis part means inflammation.

There are NO tomato varieties that have NO seeds, that's impossible and Burpees many claims for that variety border on the ridiculous in the opinion of many, but if you want to look at tomato varieties with the fewest seeds I'd suggest almost any heart variety as well as most paste varieties and a couple of the parthenocarpic varities bred by Dr. James Baggett which, b/c they are parthenocarpic, have few seeds.

And I'd be glad to name some specific varieties.

But I think the larger question here is one that you might want to pursue and that's that modern research has discounted small seeds as being a problem for people with diverticulitis.

Seeds effect diverticulitis depending upon which doctor you see ;-(

So, for your wife to enjoy tomatoes without seeds and skins you need to remove them first. It's a simple and fast procedure.

Set a small pot of water onto the stove and bring to a boil. Stab a tomato with a long meat fork and hold it on that fork submerged beneath the boiling water. Let it stay there about five to ten seconds. Remove the tomato and put it into a stream of cool water at the sink faucet which will rapidly cool the tomato and stop the cooking process. You can now slip off the tomato skin. Next, cut the mater in half--slice across the "equator", scoop out the seeds with a small spoon. Cut it into chunks and remove any more seeds that you find.

My husband has been to several doctors for his abdominal problems. He's been told to remove seeds, he's also been told that seeds are okay. The different opinions are confusing and make him understandably nervous about eating any seeds at all. So, to soothe his peace of mind as much as his intestines, I need to remove the seeds and skin. When you're working on healing a body or working to prevent worsening of any malady, the emotional aspect of a patient cannot be neglected--their emotional state is hugely important. So, despite differing medical opinions, removing seeds and peels will likely be a way of life just because it reduces stress and emotional conflict.

Here is a pic of a striped stuffer once the seeds are scooped out. There's not a whole lot left, and a cousin was told to not eat skins too. Scalding/peeling striped stuffer would then not yield much left.
