I see this thread is kind of old now, but besides all the personal opinions, does anybody know how to get that nice brown skin when using an oven bag? When I make the turkey, the night before I take a few sticks of butter, a whole yellow onion and some spices and cook them all together. Then I take that and place it into a food processor until it becomes one homogenous mixture of sorts, then I place that into a large freezer bag and flatten it out in the fridge. I got this idea from Paula Dean. The next day when you are getting your turkey ready you use your fingers to gently separate the skin from the meat, and you slide in the hardened butter mixture in between the skin and the meat. This method works incredibly well for an oven bag or not, as it infuses the meat with a delicious flavor. For people wary of the bag, the thing is fantastic! The meat comes out delicious and moist. It takes 4 hours as opposed to 8 hours to cook the turkey and needs no basting or any other fuss. I just wish it got that picture perfect browning to it, but we usually slice it up anyways so it isn't that big of a deal, but would like to hear any suggestions on how to attain this? I was thinking that maybe I should try cutting back the plastic for the last 20 or 30 minutes? I am just worried about drying the meat out :/

Brick, you got caught up in the "dig up an ancient thread" syndrome. Askgary replied to this thread as if it were posted yesterday. Askgary, no matter how hard you try that will not work. You'll never get the two devices close enough to use a two gang plate. Besides, the way you describe is quite non-code-compliant. You'd have to do more to make it complaint, and even then it would still be nearly impossible to get a plate to fit and would still be hackery.

Okay, so I just mentioned to DH that Walmart no longer has the exclusive on Persil and he said "great, why don't you order it from Amazon then" and I said "well that doesn't mean they have it". But then I went there and there are a whole slew of Persil products,. Looking at the reviews, notice what it says toward the bottom here about colors ... MIELE PREFERRED Persil is the preferred/recommended detergent of German appliance manufacturer Miele. My understanding is that this is due to Persils efficacy, as well as its sudsing and rinsing profile, and the descaling agent content, which helps keep heating elements, plumbing and other mechanicals free of scale and mineral buildup that can accumulate with time. Being a renowned high end appliance maker known for building "tanks", I give their recommendation extra weight. EFFICACY Using Liquid TIDE HE as a benchmark, Persil Gel cleans colors at least as well and in many cases better than TIDE. Stain and soil removal properties are excellent. Suds level is appropriate for a front loading high efficiency washer, and Persil seems to rinse easily. MADE FOR COLORS While most detergents in the US to seem to toss every imaginable additive into their formulations so they can be 'jack of all trades' when it comes to laundry, Persil Color Gel and its partner Persil Universal Gel are specialists. Both feature effective cleaning agents, enzymes, water conditioners and other goodies, but the additive profile is much different. Persil Color Gel does not contain optical brighteners (UV reactive dyes) which are normally used to help whites appear whiter. This is a welcome omission because on darker colors these optical brighteners tend to make clothes appear faded or washed out. Also not included are oxygen based bleaches, which can permanently fade dark and colored fabrics prematurely with time. Oh my, and now I find this on Amazon, Perwol for blacks?

Select a pull with 3" centers but a length long enough to cover the faded areas. As an example..I have used this pull and it is a beautiful pull. It has 3" centers but is 4 5/8" long.
