purple, apparently it blooms from late spring until frost. I don't think I have a "full sun" place to put anything that short.... Well, maybe, if I could find red or white. dirt_farmer, the Canadian coin got into the picture because I asked above for a photo showing the scale of the plant ("ruler, coin, etc."). The OP is Canadian; I'm not -- and from purple's comment and location I assume she isn't either. AFAIK, I never saw that particular coin before, so I checked online (Canada coin "polar bear") to find its diameter.

I found tradescantia growing near my compost pile yesterday and I don't even grow that plant. Must have been seeds in something I got as a trade or in some shared shredded leaves. The last photo looks like celandine poppy which some people like. I found it self seeded too much and have been pulling them out before they can set seed. There is a NOID plant that came along with a trade. Thought it was pretty so kept it. Big mistake as it is seeded into the lawn and amongst the other perennials.

So the infamously lengthy Canadian winter has finally come to an end. As a first year succulent grower, I'm happy to report that most of my plants made it quite nicely, with one casualty of the moon cactus, which slowly shrunk and turned black, and eventually died. I watered it like how I water most of my plants, so I'm guessing it is true when people say they don't last long usually. Anyways, I decided to post pictures of my plants in a few separate posts because otherwise it would be super long, so people can choose what they like to read :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First up is my mesembs "collection". Started with one flowering Lithops last year, slowly I acquired quite a few of these interesting mimicry plants. At first I was worried how they'd fair at my apartment windowsill that gets very little direct sun, but with the help of plant light, I think most of them are quite happy so far. The Pleiospilos nelii "Royal Flush" has been pretty nice to me so far. Flowered in July, and started regenerating slowly in November. I haven't watered it for almost 4 months now, it's really quite fascinating how these plants work. With this rate I think it will done refreshing its new leaves in maybe late May? Fenestraria "Baby Toes" didn't do much since I got them, there were a few small buds that formed near the base but none of them bloomed. A few cracked leaves too, watering these definitely need some practice. I only water lightly when they become soft and wrinkly now. The Argyroderma crateriforme also hasn't done much. I finally mastered its watering schedule too, which is not on schedule, haha. Same as the baby toes, I water it when it shows wrinkle. It also didn't bloom yet, and not regenerating either, which I would love to see since that's the only way to get rid of those ill-looking crack marks. Faucaria tigrina "Tiger's Jaw" flowered twice in October, and now looking not-the-best.. And last but not least: Lithops! These 1-year-old seedlings from Germany have been doing well mostly. Most has regenerated once and some are starting. The L. pseudotruncatella is hard to read (the tiny white one in the centre), it looks like it's trying to regenerate but is also drying up... I hope it will make it. My adult Lithops pot is doing alright too, I mean not much has happened but no casualties so far! A few is showing signs of regeneration but some of them literally looks the same. They also have not received water since November, the process seems to be quite slow, they are right next to the window so the cold temperature is also provided, I wonder what will make them decide to shed their old clothes once and for all.

It looks good:). If it’s on schedule it should be waking up from a summer sleep. I find them to be fall/spring growers, but yours could be different just pay attention to it. These guys can go months without water so don’t worry about not giving it enough water. If not getting enough water while growing sometimes they will absorb the older set of leaves and become only one set of leaves. Not a huge deal. Sometimes if they get lots of water while they’re growing they will become three sets of leaves. You can water in 7-10 days. So it can settle into it’s new home. I would personally wait 10 days, best to be safe than sorry. The only thing to worry about is that the mix is thoroughly drying out before you water again. I’m going to warn you;) if you want an exciting plant, this is not it. They don’t do much, but when they do flower it is just that much more exciting. Pleiospilos have BEAUTIFUL flowers, def some of my favs. My Pleiospilos simulans is in my top 3 fav flowers out if all my plants, and that’s saying something;). I took this pic at the San Jose succulent show, and let me tell you this P. nelii was the biggest ive ever seen. That pot was about 5inches wide and it almost filled the whole pot.
