don't follow dschalls advice...purchase organic fertilizers that are labeled correctly. Additionally, fertilizer has gone through a conversion process to fix the product as well to maintain the analysis. In addition, fertilizers are a blend of inputs to achieve the label analysis. Organic fertilzers have many ingredients that elicit particular responses in plants...like cyclotins in kelp...Also, by using feed mill products exclusively you will lack P neccessary for fruit production. Additionally, as a novice you can better get a handle on your results by keeping track of your inputs. The epson salt is an excellent idea as tthere are several studies by Europeans that the addition of magnesium sulfate allows for better amino acid production wheich effects taste. Also, check pH...in GA the soil is notmally 4.5 and bagged soil is 7. Compost will cause it to flucuate but toms like lower pH like 6 i think...for most varieties anyway...Stay away from feed stores as their expertise is feed...call up an organic distributor in Georgia or check www.georgiaorganics.org for some guidance and they have many respected people you can go to for information that is valuable... dschall..incidently a 50# bag of alfalfa has about 1# of sulfur in it! If you even had a clue and solved the mystery you say you have you wouldn't talk a bunch of bull. You say you looked at the ingredients...

Hi, Ken, and welcome to the forum. You did not state "where" in zone 7 you are. This is really not a good time of year to get brug cuttings here in Texas unless someone is just trimming back to shape. I have several inground and cut them all back in November and have lots of cuttings at that time. I can no longer mail them out however, so the cuttings go to those who come to my house to get them. There is a thread on this forum posted by a man in Florida, and he had numerous cuttings to offer.............you might check it out. Scroll down until you see one titled "Cuttings for postage" !! Wow! Thanks for all the input. As far as pruning the tomatoes, I did see a video where they were showing how to pinch off growth in the crotches of the vine, but strangely I don't see that on my plants. I grow indoors because I want to avoid pests...bugs and small mammals, and also because I plan to do this over the winter. The red bell peppers are starting to flower. They're in the same room with the tomatoes. The herbs are in a different room with a different light source. Still no flowers on my tomatoes, but I'll try and be patient. I did increase the bloom solution at last water change, so I'm hoping that will help. "The Master Gardener"...thanks...this is very helpful. My garden started out like that by accident, since I added the other room as an afterthought. The older plants were started in the smaller room with a 200w light and then when I expanded they ended up in the new area with a 400w light source. "sdgrower"...thank much! I have a mild solution for the herb ebb & flo system, and a more specific solution for the peppers (ebb & flo) and tomatoes(buckets). The onions seem to like that milder solution, as do the zucchini (which is growing huge BTW)... I grow both of these cultivars. They may very well be closely related in terms of genetic inheritance. The establishment of new cultivar classification groupings was, in my opinion, a positive move. I think that we can clearly see the reasons for ‘Quito’ being in the Spider Group and 'Machala' being in the Butterfly Group.
