Two Males and One Female Happy Together

I just wanted to share my excitement about this year's first nesting. I've been bluebirding for about 12 years. For the first time, I've had two males with one female. I know it happens some times but I've never seen it. The babies fledged today (Sunday, 4/29) and all 3 parents are tending to the babies. It was a joy to watch two males getting along together with no fighting, taking turns feeding, etc. Not sure what happens now but it was a fun time for me. Anyone else experience this?

Note: I posted this earlier with only one response so I'm reposting with a more definitive subject.

An update to the first post, the 2 males and Mom are still actively feeding the babies. I'm really anxious to see what happens if and when Mom starts another nest. Will both males stick around or what??? Inquiring minds want to know...lol. By the way, we live in suburbs of Philadelphia.

I find this absolutely amazing. I do hope you'll keep us updated on this. Will the two males go on to care for a second clutch together? I would love to know if that happens. I hope someone else chimes in, as this is certainly unusual behavior. I wonder if anyone else has ever seen it.

Absolutely fascinating. You are blessed to witness yet another amazing display in nature. I was just reading about this in a bluebird book!

Barred Rocks aren't one of the breeds that can be sexed by different colors or handy little spots on their heads, unfortunately. Luckily they DO have upright combs, so the little roos will start showing their headgear before the girls do. You'll have to do some chick-to-chick comparisons in your batch. I've come across some male/female characteristics in chickens in general that might help, rather than retype it here I'm going to put in a link to my chicken page: http://home.earthlink.net/~velvetsparrow/VSChickHensBroodiesChicks.htm Day old chicks can be easily sexed by a very experienced, trained professional because at one day old the 'equipment' is right there and obvious. :) After they get a day or two older it becomes difficult, if not impossible. Ken, based on my experience it doesn't really matter if they touch, the trunks will eventually grow into each other. The one thing you do want to do is to make sure to allocate leaf space exclusively for the male and the female respectively, otherwise pruning becomes a mess. You will need a total area of at least 3'x8' for the bushy "head" of the two vines at the minimum. In this small of a space you will need to be pruning several times in the first half of the summer to remove all the long shoots coming way out. Which would fit in well with all the other wildflowers from the packet. All the others have been wildflowers native to my area and Standing Cypress is a native as well. Though... I will have to move the ones growing in with my salvia as this stuff can get much too tall for where they're come up. Thanks a lot for the help.

Do you have any aquatic plants or other types of hiding places in the tank? I would start with a simple approach first and get more hiding places in the tank. If that doesn't work, i would get another tank, if possible before moving anybody.

I will let you know what happens next. I went on the Sialis website to get info about this and, apparently, it sometimes happens. Sometimes it's an older female with younger males (per the website). It was interesting at first because I didn't know why the second male was always hanging around. I thought one of the males was just after the mealworms. The 3 of them always sat in a tree by my window. I couldn't quite get a handle on the second male. But I knew that it was MOST unusual. One day when I had lots of time to watch, I observed both males and the female taking turns at my mealworm feeder. They usually entered the feeder one at a time. And I was amazed to see them all going back and forth to the nest box with the worms and doing the same thing after the babies fledged.
