Perfect day :)

Well... today was a *perfect* day. Went to church... had lunch with family - all went to my dd's voice recital - she did great.... came home - I said "Let's go check the box - it is day 12 and maybe we'll have a baby." Sure enough - 2 of the 4 eggs have hatched!! I just LOVE it when they are a day or two old - and they open those little mouths and they are bigger than their heads!! This is a new pair and I have only been able to find the big meal worms which they have scorned.... but.... then, after we came inside I saw the Papa bird filling up on meal worms at the feeder while Mom sat on top of the house watching and waiting for her turn. Guess they figured they could break them into smaller bites...Plus there's nothing like those mouths to feed to get them to try something new... I'll head out first thing tomorrow for some smaller ones... Anyway.... just a wonderful day and you all were the only ones I knew who could fully appreciate how these simple things made me so happy.... Hope everyone else's blues are doing well.

It does sound like the perfect day. I am so glad your blues are doing well. One of the most satisfying things to me is to put out meal worms, call your blurbirds, watch them fly in and chow down, and then watch them take a mouthfull back to the babies.

Today was wonderful, but not perfect, because I did not get to work with my plants. Tomorrow for sure, though. I walked to the grocery store with my little rolling backpack and got all sorts of goodies. Came back and took some of the hardier plants outside again...PRAYING for no more freezes! Tomorrow will be warmer, and I will get the rest of the plants outside and work on repotting and arranging them for the great plant sale and giveaway in March...don't know exactly when, but it will be fun! I will have one day when everyone can come to my house and buy, sell, swap, and take anything left in my yard that is left over. It's gonna be my last hurrah before I walk out of here for good. Now THAT will be a perfect day!

Yep It got to 36 and wow! Peeps out in tshirts and NO coats. Long sleeves is just about right for today, I put my light coat on to go to the grocery store and actually felt too warm with the sheepskin type lining. Come on spring!! The streets are horrible tho with slush and water and ice underneath. But we aren't going to talk about that today! LOL When we would go south to Texas with DH's job, we'd see peeps in parkas with the hoods up and zipped all the way. Heck we'd wear denim jackets and loved it! LOL So you're right Moni!

When daughter flew me to AZ to celebrate my birthday a couple of years ago, I spent a few days with her prior to the big day. She was busy for most of the day on her computer, involved in her consulting work and asked whether I'd like to go out to visit some of the sights in Phoenix. I said that, even though she was busy most of the time on the computer, that the break times that I spent with her were my idea of a good time. Plus ... I'd got my nose into an interesting book of her partner's. I guess an addition to the perfect was having a half dozen relatives come from Georgia, Alberta and Saskatchewan to share in the birthday party. Enjoying good health adds a cherry to the whipped cream. ole joyfuelled.

Last week I finished Laurie Graham's Gone With The WIndsors, which I chose because of discussions about it here at RP. Thank you! I loved this book. True, much of the book is funny, mainly because of dear, ditzy Maybell's telling of the tale. But it is also a great commentary on the culture and values of Britain's elite at the time. And underlying it all is the approach of WW2, with "Mr. Hitler" being the subject of casual dinner conversation. Graham has created deeply lovable characters in this story. So am continuing with Graham, now reading The Importance of Being Kennedy, told from the standpoint of an invented children's nanny. This is a more serious book, with a startling castigation of Rose Kennedy and, to a lesser extent, Patriarch Joe, and a lot of sympathy for the downstairs folk, the "help". Graham is an unusual writer, and she depicts various cultures - British, Irish, American - with tremendous skill. I'll be looking for more from her.

Yes - I love all my babies... but there is something special about the first nesting of the year - guess because we've waited so *many* months to see it!! Thanks for understanding my joy :)
