Casey: I bought WREN'S SONG last spring, no blooms that I recall but this year it is definitely making up for it. Lots of scapes and buds. My pictures aren't the best since the buds look to have gotten thrips several weeks ago, I sprayed with Neem and they look to be somewhat improving. Kathy: I thought perhaps your temps being so much warmer than ours that perhaps it had more of the lavender hues. I've seen pics like yours on the internet and that is what I was expecting. Either color works for me :-). Christine: I started indoors in April 2010. I first had them on a heat mat and once they sprouted, I put them under lights. I hardened them off and transplanted the seedlings in late May 2010. They grew to about 1 1/2 feet but they did not bloom. They wintered over just fine and this spring they grew another 2 feet and bloomed. The seeds are so tiny. I'm going to try getting some more from these plants to start indoors next spring again. To my surprise...AGAIN, the other clump of bee balm I planted in another bed in 2010 is just starting to open and a few of the blooms look to be red. Could I be that lucky? LOL. Julia

For at least 7 years bluebirds have been nesting & living in 1 particular house..... my fault I did not clean out the house - so she built a nest inside of a metal engine hoist (we own a body, paint & mechanic shop).... first she laid 1 egg then it was 3 then there was 5 then there was 8 which was a very surprising but now there's 5..... I don't believe any type of animal could crawl up there or reach in to get the eggs it is kind of deep would the mother bird do something to the eggs if she thought she had too many?

Adellabedella, the pink cranes are roseate spoonbills. They are here on the bayou quite often. We normally have cardinals in literal flocks but I haven't seen any lately. Jody said he saw one the other day. We have lots of goldfinches here in the winter and I put a feeder out for them but had to put it out in the front pasture so the horses couldn't reach it and they haven't found it yet....but neither have the raccoons....which is a blessing.

I was mowing the lawn in my backyard and could smell a foul odor when I would walk near my deck. I knew something was dead back there. I was surprised to see on my deck stairs three dead baby bluebirds right near each other. What would cause this? Was this one of the parents throwing the birds out of their own nest or an attack by another bird to just kill them? Thanks.
