Sun Scald my biggest problem this year

californian

especially on plants that I let sprawl. Almost all my Paul Robesons succumbed to sun scald, as well many of my Black Krims, Peron Sprayless, and Cherokee Purple.

Cherry type tomatoes seem to fight sun scald pretty good. Also the plants I grew in cages seemed to have better foliage protection, for instance I had two Carbons, one in a cage and one I let sprawl. I had much more sun scald damage on the one that I let sprawl.

BTW, I just found a little scrawny volunteer Sun Gold cherry tomato that still tastes almost like the hybrid.

Some plants like Box Car Willie have a huge amount of foliage, too bad the tomatoes are only so so in taste.

My most perfect tomatoes are Juliette, super prolific and zero rot and zero sun scald. Too bad they have thick skins and just O.K. taste.
