Should I remove the nest?

A brood of 5 baby blues has fledged in the past couple of days. The parents still come back for meal worms, and they often look inside the box as if to feed the babies. But, perhaps they're just checking to be sure the box is still theirs. I haven't seen the babies yet.

The question is this. Should I remove the spent nest and clean the box. The nest is nasty, the walls of the box are nasty. While the parents did remove feces constantly, apparently it was a bigger job than they could handle! Normally, the blues haven't left one in quite this mess. If I remove the nest, clean the box and disinfect it, they will come back and build a new one when they're ready for the 2nd brood, won't they? What do you clean yours with?
