Is this unusual?

The blues made a nest in the nesting box. I have been checking for eggs, there aren't any yet. The nest has been complete for just over a week now. I have not seen the either blue for the last 4 or 5 days. Is this unusual behavior? This is the third season for the box and don't remember this happening before.

Not unusual at all. They went on a honeymoon and are resting up before the babies come! :)

Last year, and the year before I had a pair build two complete nests in two separate boxes and then leave without laying an egg. The first time they were around for weeks after they built the nests, which is very strange. The only thing I can think of is they were harassed by a HOSP and I was unaware of it. I never saw them be bothered, and because there were no eggs, I had not yet put up a spooker. Have you seen or heard any HOSP in the neighborhood? Just a thought.

The plant is native to warm, tropical, jungly areas so heat is not an issue. Lack of humidity and too much sun can be. Most common houseplants are tropical plants that cannot tolerate cold winter temps and can easily adapt to indoor conditions with some qualifications. FWIW, these plants rarely ever bloom when grown as houseplants and not all that frequently growing in the wild. I think you just got lucky!!.

I have a few polychromes. Techny Spider looks polychrome in this photo. The blooms can be darker in color at times and the effect isnt as striking. Sweet Autumn Mist blooms later in the season. It has been a reliable performer in a less than ideal spot. Forest God seems to fit this category. I got this one after seeing Kate’s photos. It is one of my favorites in the garden. You can inside mount shades in very little depth. Cellular shades can be mounted with as little as 1 inch window frame depth. Some with as little as 3/4 of an inch depth, however, windows with less than at least 2 inches will not be deep enough to contain the entire cellular shade and a portion will extend past the front edge of the window frame.
