I used Downy for decades without any issues. Then a few years ago I learned about how waxy it is and more likely to cause problems with a washer, particularly if the user does not use the proper amount and do routine hot washes. I switched to Snuggle and was happy with the scent and felt like I was not going to ruin my machine. I currently do not use FS. My intention is to do as dadoes does when we invest in new towels-occasionally use Snuggle. It is a real shame that with all of the formulation changes in detergents and additives that you have to approach doing laundry as a scientist rather than as a homeowner.

Thanks all for the insights - sounds like I should avoid Natchez. Which I what I initially was thinking prior to having such a damn hard time finding the 'Acoma' variety here locally in the Bay Area of California. "Find a myrtle that will fit your space" is proving to be easier said than done. I have designed moonlight garden so a white myrtle is part of the plan vs the other gorgeous pink/red varieties. Will continue the search for an 'Acoma'. All online sources seem to be sold out :(

Left Asclepias sullivantii, right Asclepias syriaca. The underside of syriaca leaves are covered in short hairs. If you rub them it will feel wooly, like suede. The undersides of sullivantii leaves are completely smooth and hairless and will feel like leather or vinyl when rubbed. Sullivantii usually has more pronounced pink coloring in the veins. Common and Prairie milkweed can hybridize in the wild naturally, and they will also hybridize with Showy and Poke Milkweed. Their pollinia,( pollen sacks) are close in size and can be inserted by insects into other similar species. The hairs on the bottom of A. syriaca are hard to see, even with a magnifier, but they can be identified easier by touch. Even if you blow up this photo the hairs on the syriaca leaf will still not be clearly visuble.
