I'm in Tucson also, and I keep getting those nasty green tobacco hornworms on my sweet olive bush. Not exactly an infestation, but 2 or 3 will leave their mark, and quickly -- they're ravenous and they get HUGE! They eventually turn into some kind of sphynx moth (except the ones in my yard, hehe) The only other "new" caterpillar problem are the Genista caterpillars attacking my Spanish broom. Spanish broom is mostly green twigs with a few tiny leaves (similar to a Palo Verde or Ephedra) but once the leaves are gone, they simply devour the outer wall of the stem, causing the stem to die. BT spray kills them within a day, but I'm having to apply it weekly just to keep up with the population explosion. The creature I'm really having problems with this year are Black Widows -- they're everywhere! I go 'hunting' every few nights and kill at least a dozen every time. I can't stand their filthy, garbage-collecting webs, UGH!!!!!

Sara, I would call it day 16. This means you should start seeing little baby faces peeking out of the box soon. At first there will be just shy little peeks then they will get braver. Mine Started peeking on Sunday and left Tuesday. The parents will start preparing to call them out and may keep the area clear of other birds, squirrels , etc for a couple days. They have a soft little "baby talk " coo. They may withhold food for short periods and even dangle a nice juicy bug in front of the hole but not give it to them. This is to motivate the babies to leave. There seems to be a pattern 2 days before fledging they feed them well and there is lots of activity , fighting to look out etc. The next is quieter and is a day of rest. Fledge day the babies should be returning peeps to the parents coos (however I had a very quiet bunch last year). They will be sticking their whole heads out then popping back in the box and flapping their little wings. Once you see toes sticking out you know they are ready. This is the first time I have had Blues fledge that close together, several times I have had 2 or 3 fledge and the others not go till the next day. I have seen somewhere around 30 fledges and they are all different but most have had these thing in common. Extra meal worms are of great help! Good Luck!

Joe: I changed the frequency of retrieving mail from every 5 minutes to every 15. Seems to have worked. Thanks so much for the link.

How do I change the channel on the router? Yes to the other things. No landline anymore so no cordless phones. Another thing the router is not wireless but I have one of the blue and black linksys boxes hooked to it to make it wireless that is just a little less older than the router so wonder if that could be going instead of the router. Years ago was not thinking of wireless laptops and such then about 2yrs after getting the high speed son wanted to connect in his room with his game system and he bought the linksy set up to do that so that is what is hooked to my router to have wireless.
