happy to find you

I am happy to find this forum. I've been active on the mosaic page and the decorating page of GardenWeb & never thought to look for a bluebird one.

I have a very old bluebird house with a hole that has been enlarged, probably by squirrels, it is hung too low, on a chain link fence near trees. Everything wrong, but a pair of BB's nested in it last year and really never quite left. They've been here off and on all winter, and are nesting again. I'd bought a new house to replace it with, but the morning I was going to, they were back.

I haven't seen eggs yet, but there is definitely a nest there.

Now I'm deciding how to discourage the sparrows and starlings. Are the sparrows a bigger issue? I've seen my BB's fight off a couple of chicks, but the starlings have never messed with them that I have seen. I may put up the other house across the yard in case the chicks want it.

Anyway, good luck to everybody's BB's!
