Feeders deserted

I accidentally posted this message under "Finches,Finches,Finches". I will try my best to write it again.

I have two feeders, one is a cage feeder with BOSS, the other is a tube with nyger seed. The birds suddenly dissapeared. Before that I was filling the feeders every day. There are chikadees and finches, they will perch and peck, then leave. Could the seeds be tainted from several very small showers we had last week? I have checked them, to me the seeds look fine, but I am a novice at this. My trees are full of birds, but they just won't come to the feeders. Should I clean the feeders? Not quite sure how to go about that, one is a caged copper feeder, the other is a plastic tube.

There are also some very small birds that appear to be dark in color, maybe twice the size of a hummer. I never see them at the feeders, what type of feeder should I have and what type of seed?

I also have cardinals that can't get to the seeds. I don't know what type of feeder to get for them, another problem I have is squirrels and grackles.

I live in South Texas.

Thank You.
