Jen: It was undoubtedly a Barred Owl, and you'll no doubt be hearing it from now through the Spring. An eerie sound, echoing through the woods, they are very loud and vociferous at this time of year. I've been hearing them in the Maryland-Virginia area, also. They actually make a Barred Owl call, that turkey hunters use, and it sounds exactly as was described above. It's known as a "locater" call--when a turkey gobbler hears it, he'll gobble back, to let the owl know that he's in the area, and not to try and eat the young turkey poults. That's how the turkey hunter finds out where the turkey gobbler is located--thus, a "locater" call.

the fact is--those rules are like the rules of warfare or investing or even cooking... if it works, it's right... whether you follow the existing rules or not... often times it is breaking the rules or conventional design that really makes a house/room individual and striking... but having the design savy and guts to make the decision is what sets creative talent apart from people who follow whatever fad is in their face... I get so tired of looking at Houzz and reading people's comments about "where did you get that rug/buffett/coffee table/drape/faucet fixture"especially if it is pretty obviously a piece of furniture that is cintage or being repurposed/repainted Tile and paint--that is usually worth knowing but again computer monitors often mislead about the actual color of what is on the screen...so what works for one person/room is not axiomatically going to work for you even if you really, really like what you see onscreen... Sometimes judicious use of Google could solve that problem--but people want answers right away-- the definitive vs the more ambiguous...

I love the format of the show, it is so unique. Sowing a scene and then flashing back to an hour earlier, or 12 hours earlier, it really catches my attention. I'm loving a lot of the off network shows, like Leverage, Covert Affairs, and I love Rizzoli and Isles!

RedSun is right, soil temperature is important - you'll want to wait until the soil is 60F. Warm weather plants will just sit there and sulk until the soil warms to their liking. If the tomatoes are becoming pot-bound, them move them up to a larger container where they'll be more comfortable while waiting for the soil to warm up.
