Ok,,,,,, got it Silver Appleyard and I would LOVE a few females. He is a good male duck as he keeps the girl in line finding the ones who have strayed off and bringing them back to the flock. His sexual Appetite earned him the name of Hawkeye (after the M.A.S.H. womanizer and sometimes my hubby calls him Tiger :~) tanya

Hi Genny 60 watt bulb should be ok, and abut 4" from the eggs, put them in a shoe box that way the heat from the bulb will cirulate around the eggs in a small area. keep them warm and spray mist them with a small amount of plain water. That will raise the humidity of the eggs and make them easier for the babies to hatch from, just like when the hen sets on them, her down feather sweat putting off a high humidity which is what the eggs will need in order to hatch. Good luck Sandy

The Bonide product I'm using is mineral oil. I got it at the local feed store. I have also confirmed it to be scale. The purpose for using the mineral oil is to smother them out by spraying a coat of oil on them once a week until they're gone. I've been using it now for about 3 weeks, and cleaned the black mold off, and most of the scale also, but I can still see some under some of the leaves. I'm not sure if the mineral oil is working or not. I'm not sure if what I'm seeing on some of the leaves that I've already cleaned are dead and just needing to be wiped off, or new ones that have hatched. I'm not seeing anymore of their little web-like cocoons being formed under any of the leaves anymore though.
