Im curious if you got an 8' tall Christmas palm in houston. Ive never seen a Christmas that large anywhere around (and trust me ive looked!) I could buy 100 Solitare palms but, not a single christmas :) anyway, Ive got a small 3 gal i picked up 2 years ago from lowes thats hopefully going to make it through its second winter... (were a little warmer than yall) Anyhow heres the point, in my estimation, its as much the absolute low as its the long term 40's - 60's that will get these very tropical palms.... Heres to hoping it makes it through this winter

Last night I had a interesting thing happen to me. I had just done my first Angelic connection with meditation, candles and certain harmonic rituals when I came upstairs and was relaxing. My husband was asleep upstairs . All of the sudden, what was to me a bird came flying past my head. It was small, 4 inches or so. It flew over me a few more times and then realized that it was a bat! I got my phone and started videotaping my cat going after . was encouraging my cat to kill .. inbetween my cats food and water dishes for several minutes as my cat looked puzzled. All of the sudden it just took off!!! It flew straight up in the air. Into the kitchen ( filming and screaming!). It landed on window sill, tucked it's wings (hung out). Then proceeded around. Finally landing on the kitchen mat by the back door. Paying (again). MY cat Boots was stumped this behavior left the room. started feeling like there was more to this than meets the eye. went and googled "a bat in your house" and to my surprise ***Bats Symbols of transition, initiation and the start of a new beginning. They Symbolize Death and rebirth. Death in the sense of letting go of the old and bringing in the new! In the Chinese culture bats are Symbols of Good luck. Chinese word for bat is " pronounced the same as the word for "Good Fortune" Upon reading all of this just horrible. I had covered the bat with and put a heavy stone pizza plate over the bowl so that the bat could not escape. Now I put my cat, got my phone/camera ready and uncovered the plate and bowl. He was just laying there. Lifeless. wwent to find a proper box so that I could give him a proper burial in the morning, got latex gloves on and went to move him he lifted his head!!! I jumped back !! So now I knew that once again, he wasn't ! turned off all of the lights in the house and got within a few inches of his face and just talked to him for a bit. I told him that I hoped that he would be alright and that had I known of the Symbolism, that I would have been appreciative of his presence. He truly looked sweet and cute. He had cute little itty bitty hands and without wings was only an inch wide and not much longer. He was furry like a teddy bear. left a note for my husband asking him NOT kill the bat and not to let our cat in. When he got up to around 4 bat had moved a different part of the kitchen /, and my husband picked him up and placed him on our shelf on our bbq an hour or so later when the paper came the bat was gone. Okay, so there you have it! My experience was of a Spiritual one * in my opinion * we live on the Ocean Washington State. Have a newer home with no attic, have 2 fireplaces that have closed glass doors and have never seen a bat! My conclusion is that there are good forces out there and that I got visited by one .

Sweeby, I never saw this side of things before, so I just saw this thread. I would have jumped onthe shots issue immediately -- especially after the boy in Humble died. You just can't risk it, and I'm sure that's why your dr jumped on it. One thought I had for dealing with the insurance co is that they are talking about prescription coverage and the rabies shots are a vaccination. That could make a difference in the terms of your coverage. With regard to the 48 hrs, that would generally be constued to mean the bite or the discovery of the bite. You don't know and can't ever determine if there was a bite, nor can they disprove it. The only proof would be your son contracting rabies, at which time the only hope would be the experimental treatment that requires FDA approval -- that came too late for the boy in Humble. And the insurer has just bought national publicity in a wrongful death case. For $5000 or less -- $1400 i your case, the insurer can rest assured that they won't have a wrongful death suit that will cost more than that to simply file an answer -- never mind trying the case or dealing with the publicity. If I were advising the insurer, I'd say pay for the blinking shots even if they aren't covered, explain that you don't believe they are covered and figure out a way to make sure neither side suffers any greater loss. It's the best insurance for the insurance company and anything less would be fool hardy and calloused (which brings bigger damage awards if they lose). Maybe someone who could think finally got wind of your claim. How many of these do they think they are going to have, and how many people would want rabies shots if they didn't truly have a risk? Good grief!!! I'm glad he got started on the shots and isn't having any problems. Hope it continues that way. If you continue to have insurance issues, email me.

Heaviest of sighs...Strike Three. Installers were given another chance to get it right, and they once again came up short. I've been told time and again they've done countless homes and projects all these many years, and they've never had issues like the ones I'm having: I must just be very, very unlucky. Last week, I had a very specific, detailed conversation with the sub about framing out my recessed kitchen windows a particular way. Many times, I told him that if what I was asking for couldn't be done, he should let me know so that we could discuss a Plan B. And I reiterated (to the point where I thought I was being annoying) what the particulars were. He assured me several times -- each time! -- that it was completely doable, to the exact standards I asked for. Reasonable, I think: four rectangles laid against the window sides, top and bottom, and slap the backsplash piece in front. Transition from one piece to another should be as smooth as the countertop seams had been done. Unbeknownst to me -- I didn't notice until the end of the day -- he'd called an audible Friday that completely went against my wishes. Why on earth he didn't ask me, I have no clue. I was in the next room the whole time..he knew that. Honestly, had the execution been spot on, I would've adjusted. However, the lines of the rectangle cutout of the backsplash piece are wavy...I'm staring out a wavy-edged window. They essentially couldn't even keep the lines straight when they were grinding the edges, I suppose. (Too picky? When I lay a straight edge along each side, light pokes through. The window measures only 10" x 22".) Further, they agreed to redo their initial caulk job around the sink because there were so many holes. Their reapplication ended up with the same result: holes in the silicone! I hope some of these local showrooms are open on Sunday, 'cuz I'll be heading out tomorrow to get quotes.
