Deedee, we are frozen over here, ice everywhere. I have not seen my Blues for 3 days. I did see the HOSP yesterday but by the time I got outside he was gone. The Woodpeckers were in the boxes most of the day. We are going to stay right around 30 with lows into the teens for another week (at least) UUUUGGGG. I broke down and gave the Robins some meal worms yesterday. Poor things. I hope the Blues went somewhere warmer.

Oh you poor people. It has been so beautiful here in north Georgia over the past week. We have just had a cold spell to settle in, but we are still in the 60's for highs. I hope that it warms up for everyone soon. It's that time of year when we are all so eager for the cold to end.

Woke up to snow this morning could get an inch no warm up in sight until Monday possibly 50 degrees. I haven't seen the blues this morning but I can here them singing from the woods I have dried mealworms out that they have been eating for the last couple of weeks...even my family of groundhogs that live in the woods probably won't come out today to eat on the hill side. I thought early spring this yr. the groundhogs came out 2 wks before the 21st as last yr.they surfaced the 22nd mother nature is strange.

In the same boat here in northern Ohio. We were treated with 3 separate 60 degree days. Now, for the last 4 or 5 days, we have had highs in the low to mid 30's and lows in the teens and twenties. UGH is right!

Next week is featuring increasing into the mid 40's or so but nothing like what we had a week ago. My blues are amazingly STILL here but the Tree Swallows fled and haven't shown back up. How can they be finding insects when it's 30?!

And I trapped the HOSP when it was warm and they haven't been back at my boxes. Seems like this cold is affecting everything...including HOSP! Which usually isn't the case...but I've trapped 3 - 5 males already too. This time last year, the blues were about to begin a nest...it was the last day of March last year. Looks like they'll be delayed this year:(

Oh well. Keep your spirits up guys! We haven't got any snow accumulation but for March it has been down right cold! It's almost April. The closer to May, the better! Hang in there everyone!

The forecast us 3 inches of snow it is snowing now have a couple of inches, my female bb has been chased all day by a mockingbird that has showed up yesterday....but she isn't budging she keeps coming back. I put out dried mealworms the last couple of weeks for the BBs on a flat dish but the mockingbird took over today so I went to Lowes and bought a clear plastice BB feeder with a dome and she'll eat from it if its on the patio but so can the mockingbird that way, because he can sit on the rail but if I hang it he's to big to fly under and eat from inside but she won't either. But I'm tickled she's not giving up and staying around although since its been snowing haven't seen any birds.

Well a week ago Saturday I saw my first Bluebird pair of the season, checking out houses. Tuesday and Wednesday it snowed and sleeted and rained and snowed and sleeted and rained all day long both days and nights, even thunder and lightening along with 6 inches of snow. Has been in the 20's (for highs) ever since. No Blues around but the HOSP have been around like crazy and I even found the start of a nest in one of my boxes, to which I went out and set my van ert. Haven't seen them around again but I am expecting at least by tomorrow morning to hopefully have trapped on. I keep checking it though. Got six HOSP so far with the BB gun, at least it is something! This weeks forcast is supposed to slowly warm up, from a high around 30 today to hopefully a high of 50 by this coming Saturday. Woohoo!! I hope they are right!
