The vast majority ignore me (especially the *&%&%^$ing deer) and the titmice, chickadees and wrens come flocking to see if I have mealies. The robins and catbirds follow me when I garden to see what I turn up, too. I'll confess that I generally speak softly to all the birds when I'm in the yard, and most seem to have acclimated very easily to my presence. Your yard sounds like a nice place to be a critter. :)

like i said earlier they nested in a patch of oak brush. and when the young were hatching or still in the nest they would dive bomb anyone or anything that came close to their oak brush and they carried off extra food and seeds ect to stash every time they came over here to eat. I have found stashes of food in trees and brush close to their territory. But what i like about them is they warn all the birds if a predater shows up cats or hawks or dogs ect and the birds all head into the trees. and they don't like the starlings or red wing black birds and even have a picture of one facing off with a magpie.

i don't get the regular blue jays here.have scrub jays most of the year and pinyon jays and steller jays in the worst of winter. both the steller jays and scrub jays are usually in small family groups and slip in and grab a mouthfull and carry it away and do that off and on all day. the pinyon jays are always in big flocks anything from a dozen to two dozen and take over everything and eat a lot and disappear for days or weeks.

i live in wetern colorado and get the scrubs jays and the steller jays. they both go after any of the bigger stuff whether its peanuts or corn or food scraps or whatever and carry as much as they can off. till it's gone only then will they go after the little seeds
