Sarcococca - sow cleaned seed 55 - 65o for germination in 30 - 120 days. That 55F range is really hard for me to achieve indoors. I've had good germination with these sowing in late winter - soaking overnight, sowing and placing the pots outdoors where the seeds may get days in the 50s, occasionally 60s and much cooler nights (even exposed to sometimes overnight frost early on). Cover seed by approx 1/8", top with some grit, protect from birds. I pot the seedlings individually when a few weeks old, and leave them in their pots an additional year.... I haven't bought any colocasia's or alocasia's, I don't know if I will. The Philo unfortunetely didn't make it by the end of the week and sat in the post office the whole weekend, upon arrival I had to chop 75% of the plant. It's recovering, though the plant is so huge I can barely lift the pot on my own and need to do some serious thinking on how this is going to work out, watering that is. I have a drip tray underneath but I can't empty the drip tray after watering because the plant is so massive and heavy when I tried to lift it up last watering to empty the tray, water just made a huge mess on the floor everywhere. What a mess, and my schedule is completely full, actually it's overflowing and now I owe a bunch of sleep debt.

It would be out of Brom topic but I could try my best Gonz :-) But I'm afraid I'm not expert enough, Anyway, if your original seed came from the mainland Africa, it should be Adansonia digitata and if they came from Australia, it should be A. gregori (A.gibbosa as synm.) But if they came from Madagascar, where is the home land of 6 species of Baobab, it would be difficult. Anyways, there are 4 species which have been regularly avialable from seed dealer, A.grandidieri which its seedling usually have rather small entire leaf edges. A.rubrostipa (A.fony) is quite similar with A. grandidieri, but with serrated leaf edges. A.za and A.madagascariensis , both look similar when young with their broad and white midrib, but A.za has bigger and deeper green leaf than that of the other one. Another one or two species are quite rare in trade, but I had a chance to observe some specimen of them in habitat at Tsingy de Ankarana, North Madagascar in 2001. That was a really great experience in my life. Hi Han, I'm afraid you would be disappoint, as there is not plant sell in the Expo, but only some local shops near the entrance which mostly are the orchid dealer and only one Tillandsia shop overethere. I've to state that our Chatuchak Market or known as JJ market (on Wed. and Thur. day) in Bangkok city is the best place for all tropical & exotic plant lovers. You could find from the newest hybrid of colourful Aglonema or Adenium to the rarest species of caudiciform from Madagascar or Africa jungle !!!

I thought African Greys lived for 60+ years. They get sick very easily tho. He sure did live a good life with LOTS of attention. Birds just love attention. PJ
