I am thrilled with the TC. I don't know if my pre-TC pictues were as good as yours, tho. I don't think I lose much light. I just find dreary day=grainy pix, sunny=clear, no matter what I use. There is vignetting when zoomed way out, but that isn't an issue with me, because it's a zoom lens. I'm sure a tripod would help, too, but I'm not that serious, and not ready to cart one down to the river (yet? lol). I have to climb down a rocky (boulders) bank to get to the river and my camera bag is enough of a challenge right now.

The jays, chickadees, killdeer and nuthatch were taken with just the camera, no TC. And all are on auto. I've played with aperture and shutter speed, but not a lot.
