rhome410 - thanks again! I didn't see your link until this morning. It looks like the Evolution 500 SHE45M05UC that I ended up getting is nearly the same dishwasher you have with a different door. If I had seen your link yesterday, I might have changed my order, but it was a one day sale so I had to act fast. I think I will be jut fine with the Evolution door panel. It's certainly not that obtrusive and my kitchen is definitely not a designer one - yet! This is just a mini-upgrade because we really needed new appliances. I was able to also use a 10% off coupon and got the free delivery special as well, so I am really pleased that I got my DW for $600 +tax delivered! Roger - I believe that the model I bought has an end of cycle beep. Several of the reviews I read actually mentioned the beep specifically saying it was annoying!

I think you are better off checking out painters websites, websites like this, etc. than you are relying on ratings from Consumer Reports. I have never met one single painter in all my life that actually endorses those rankings. Homeowners may, but the average homeowner demands far less from a coating than a real pro. The ratings are based on value, which means the price will always get figured into how high of a rating the paint gets. My opinion has always been that the biggest part of a paintjob is the labor in applying the paint...the actual price of the paint itself is really minor when you look at the entire scope (price) of the job. Therefore, I'm not looking to save money on paint on the front end because if I can get 2-3 more years of service from a coating because I used something good, then I'm going to do that every time. Also, Consumer Reports generally does not look at regional brands because they may not be available nationwide so not everyone can get them. The regional manufacturers are usually the best paint makers around. I will use a C2 exterior acrylic stain or Maxum 2 which is made by Coronado. Benjamin Moore would be my third choice. C2 and Coronado brands are probably not ranked by Consumer Reports.

mark is just muddying the waters. A Miele ( the company that invented it) cutlery tray is the same in both ADA and reg. DWs. IF , note I said IF, you go with an ADA model then the height in the MIDDLE basket is reduced somewhat but everything else is the same. but...................... It may make no difference to you in the real world. I have crate @ barrel everyday dishes that are 10 1/2" tall and they fit in my mieleADA dishwashers just fine and still allow a pint glass or Tervis Tunbler to fit in the middle basket just fine. I can even get champagne flutes in there if I lean them on the folding stemware tines. And guess what - them get clean ! It really only makes a diff to a very small section of the dish buying public and those OCD specification sheet collectors. Now, we could have another discussion about the merits of the third or cutlery tray , but I think there are already a couple of those around here already. The pertinent point is that now that Miele's patent has expired all the high level players have gone to to that arrangement. That should tell you what you need to know.

I used to deliver Belgard to distributors. I can't say anything bad about the competition, but the distributors used to like Belgard along with the high volume contractors. I can't imagine a paver wearing out. I'm curious why a contractor would state he "thinks" a certain brand wears better. Go with what you like unless there's some definitive reason of why not to use a product. Sounds as if you may want to interview a couple other contractors as well.
