The problem is lack of water Period. OK. That seems like a long time to run the sprinkler for. You need to achieve 3/4 to 1" of water no matter how long it takes. Try a different rotor head that will throw more water, or change the nozzle in your current heads if you can. Honestly, running it for 45 minutes drenched the yard! Thats because we just received 3 days of soaking rain. It also doesn't explain why one of my problem areas received more water. If the problem was not enough water, it should be receiving less, right? Your talking about an 1/8" difference. If it would have been 1/2" or more difference then you might have an argument. What makes you think it's not enough water? Because you only applied an average of 3/16" of water. Can it be fungus? Chinch Bugs? No and once again, even if it was chinch bugs, you already treated for them. We have sandy soil in the Tampa Bay area. The problem areas you have are DEAD and are not going to get better over night. The good thing is that S.A. spreads by runners fairly rapdily. You could/should apply some compost to the dead areas to help/speed the process up. I strongly advise you read this whole thread again and follow the advise. By spring/early summer your problems should be much much better.

nematodes feed on ants, ticks, grubs, fleas, and too many insects to count yet they leave earthworms, toads, and beneficial ones alone. That should be enough. I've used only once and it seems to last a long time. I never seem to have major ant problem. They would build ant mound but they would never get huge like my neighbors and they seem to disappear overnight. It takes only one ant to be infected and bring it to the ant mound where it dies and nematodes would come out of the ant in large numbers... Nematodes are just very tiny worms...

Hey Scoot. Nice to see you're back. I think I still have pix of your lawn after you did the reno. Deep and infrequent is the mantra for watering. What that means for you versus what it means for me or someone in Louisiana can all be different things. If your grass gets plenty of water and blades fold up in 3 days, then you need to water. In your case you have sandy soil and hot sun working against you.

Orlando has a really nice climate and considering how far away it is from the coast, it has very mild weather. Some areas by the coast (like tampa) which is south of orlando, got the same or cooler weather. I know that the theme parks in orlando (especially universal studios) has lots of tender plants that are growing very well (not sure how they are doing now though). Some of the plants I have seen there are... screw pines (Pandanus utilis) which was pretty tall and quite a few years old Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum wallisii) these were also pretty big and were in full shade Tri-color hibiscus (Talipariti tiliaceum) which was very large and heathy Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, which were large and flowering well, but not as healthy as they could be bromeliads, lots of different types from small airplants on the trees to large ones mounted on the trunk of the palms. Foxtail palms (Wodyetia bifurcata), they were large and healthy at the time and also right by a pond which probably help protect it from a frost And lots of others that I am forgetting too. They all seemed really happy before this freeze but I wonder if they are okay now (or if the park protected them from the freezes). I also think there are coconut palms in Sea World which are still alive (I think) and protected from extreme cold. Good luck!
