Nothing like running board with one liners? WTF??????????

Let's give benefit of the doubt, ok drtomato. Way over-enthusiastic true, maybe not thought through as well as could have been, but I don't think a forum raid was intended (even though it does look that way).

raisemybeds - as I explained on one of your other 6 posts, this type of multiple posts is considered very poor forum etiquette for obvious reasons. Too late to do anything about it now unless you wish to contact Admin and ask for removals but please combine all of these in the future. Thanks.

Nothing like running board with one liners? WTF?????????? My suggestion is if you don't like them don't read them like I'm going to do your posts from now on. I personally enjoyed reading them and thought we had freedom of speech and could post anything that isn't offensive. Didn't know we had to abide by your rules. If you live in a glass house don't throw rocks. JD

Raisemybeds, I did that once on another board. I was so "het up" about the topic and what I wanted to share, that I didn't even think about combining it all into one post. I got flamed for it big time (folks at Gardenweb are generally too polite to do that) and was embarrassed and rather turned off to that board, too. It's not a big deal - don't give it another thought!

I get overly excited too by my under-experience and lucky success at growing tomatoes. I don't understand the etiquette point being espoused. I think very experienced long-time forum members forget that us forum noobs don't have a clue of what we are doing growing or forum writing-wise. What is a forum raid? How is this multiple posts? I don't understand the running board with one-liners comment. Is this insider knowledge? Is there FAQs that explain these issues. Please help.

Lehua, after posting on a board for a while, you get to know people and get accustomed to the posting patterns. Sometimes trolls, people who try to start trouble, will say inflammatory things to start a posting war. Posting several separate items when they could have been combined sort of interrupts the flow of the board and as Dave said, does necessitate moving to the next page to see current posts, b/c they are pushed down with each new one. I guess someone with ill intentions might conduct a forum raid by posting many times in succession, just to bug the regulars.

I've read many of raisemybeds' posts before and know that she is one of the good guys...just got carried away, I suspect.

lehua - you can't see the problem now as the posts have become scattered with time but originally, when the comments above were made there were 6 general comment posts, one right after another, all within a couple of minutes of each other, all by the same person, all on only a single example of the same topic, all of which could have been and should have been combined into 1 post by the author as such discussions usually are.

The effect of multiple posts on the same topic is a domination of the first page of the forum by one person. It also bump 6 other people's post off the front page and 6 other posts off the forum's last page permanently. We are only allowed a certain amount of forum storage/server use. That is why it is frowned on and prohibited.

It is a type of posting that is prohibited by the forum guidelines here and on most public forums simply because it it infringes on the rights of the other participants to have their post read and answered. General forum etiquette considers it Spamming (something we all know about, or should if we spend any time online) - a negative form of intrusive communication usually practiced by those wishing to interfere with or even block normal forum operation and activities.

That clearly was not the case in this instance, we knew that, thus the kinder words from some. But harsh words directed at the person are often the result when this is practiced in most instances the intent is not innocent exuberance.

It pays to be familiar with the Forum Use Instructions linked on every page and to think twice before hitting the submit button. ;)

Please, you're not a moderator. If you're uncomfortable with someone's post then don't repsond to it, or if it is offensive then do contact the GW moderators and they will look at it and make a determination to cull the message.

There are numerous posts on these boards about only one tomato. They happen with great frequency and they drive other posts from the front page--and--that IS what is supposed to happen. The forums function as a discussion venue--they are not a permanent recording record of text.

I like the "corny" subject lines--it's nice to have someone with a sense of humor post here. Puns an humor are essential to communication, they provide depth and wit--forums would be all the worse without humor.

All I did was answer lehua's questions and I made no negative comments on any of the posts in question.

As to how the forum's are supposed to function, I'll let you discuss that with Admin as they will be happy to explain the reasons for the forum use guidelines to you.

I tend to agree with Dave. And, I am sort of anti-authority myself. I think the posts themselves rocked, but sometimes I don't have time to read everything. It would have been nice to have all six of these in a single post, if that makes sense, so I could get to all of them? I really appreciated these raisemybeds! I hope to hear more of your experiences. And pictures! Like many of the other short season folks, I am still living vicariously, lol.

The wedding was great - rockin' reception! The food was especially good and high in lycopenes. Memorable.
