When are 'lime green' variety tomato ripe?

So I had a lime green tomato plant in a pot. I forgot that I had planted that variety and picked them for ripening in wrapped newspaper. After about 2 weeks, they still looked green, so I double checked and realized that these were green tomatoes.

My question is, how do you know when green tomatoes are ripe. They do not feel soft to touch and do not have a light pink/blush on the top that I have read about in other posts. Any advice would be appreciated.
