swamp lily (hymenocallis)

My swamp lily bloomed fine this spring (the wild one that came out of a ditch) really well in fact. Even the two seedlings from seed from the wild stand in Lamar County managed to bloom in their gallon size pots. I didn't bother to pollinate them because I have always been able to go collect seed from the wild stand. The big deal came when I drove out to look for some seed. The wild group didn't set any seed this year!!! There were plenty of spent stalks. They are gradually being crowded out by the farmer who now plants every inch possible. Most of the bog is now drained. Don't know if I should or not but I'll try to dig a few more this summer to save what I can. They've always been at the mercy of those who farmed that land but in the past that boggy area was left to it's self; but no more.
