Okay - but here's my problem: I picked some this morning that were really orange and popped a few in my mouth - yes they were sweet and delicious - but... I have found that the ones I picked that still had a bit of green veining I put in a brown paper bag and that was weeks ago and still they have the green veins (although they are large) and are horrible tasting. As Trudi mentioned, they are bitter if there are greenish veins, but why aren't they turning orange in the bag? I've had 15 of them in the bag for over a month. For now, though, I am seeing plenty on the vine turning a great orange so I know now to wait until there is no green veins at all and they are very tasty when ripe. carrie

I have two of the same plants. First, take them out of the pots and cut off a majority of the curled roots. They are rootbound and needs a fresh start. Next, put them back in the pot, put it outside in the shade and give it pleanty of water. Make sure it rehydrates. Not just run off down the sides of the pot. Put a bowl or something under the pot to hold about 5 inches of water and water from the top first. Then keep the bowl full of water until the soil is completely rehydrated. Fertilizer with Miracle grow or just anything you have. Don't let it dry out. It loves water and and drops leaves and goes limp when dried out. After you are sure the plant is rehydrated, remove the bowl and just keep your plant moist. I keep mine outside all year long unless I know we are having a deep freeze. Thanks for your input. I didn't get him dug up today but will do it soon. Janice, I definitely have a problem with water spots (you should see my windows). It is mostly lime so it leaves a white film. It's the yellow spots that concern me. It seems to be in the plant. Trudy, you're right it does look like So Sweet with HVX. Given what I've read about how the tomato cirle virus and other ones are spread, I'd rather it be HVX because at least I can get rid of it. If it's in the soil it's tougher. I've had this plant since 2004. If I look closely at pictures from 2006 I think I can see it begining to show. He has lived in two places so far so I hope he's not spread anything.

It really doesn't have a green cast in real life, but I know it does appear that way in the picture. The nice thing about SW is you can order this color in a quart "to go" for about 5$ and roll a whole wall to see if you like it. I tried several different colors that way. It has been either overcast or raining here for a few days. If the sun ever comes out I'll try a pic in natural light without a flash:) Do you have good light? As much as I love tobacco road, I love the decatur buff even more. I get a lot of sun in my den, so it's not too dark. It's such a rich color. Good luck with your paint quest!
