Growing Tomatoes

Weird question

I'm looking for a "gardeners cup holder" if you will. What I have in mind is a wrought iron cup holder that I can bolt on my wooden privacy fence near my garden. Looking to hold ice cold water or "other" beverages as I work my garden. it seems like a good Idea to me, but I can't find anything online. This may be a weird question for the tomato forum but I'm a tomato and pepper garderner, so what the hell. Anyone ever seen anything liek I'm describing? thanks

How about a "Marine cup holder" or a "Boat cup holder" Should be easy to mount to a fence.

Seen many different kinds of plastic ones but no wrought iron. In addition to the marine models purple recommended, several different models and sizes are available from auto parts stores - some plain, some fancy, but any of them would mount to the fence.

You can also easily make one out of wood.

There are 2 definitive types of banana pups (aka suckers): Sword suckers, and water suckers. Sword suckers are considered the "healthy" pups. they're the ones that grow upward like spears and take awhile to put out a true leaf. Water suckers are the diminutive pups that show full fledged leaves early, but usually take a lot longer to grow. Sword suckers are well-connected to the main corm, they grow as a true offshoot of the original banana plant, whereas Water suckers are often growing from a damaged or less-efficient section of the main corm. As you've got yourself a chunk of corm with roots, there is a very decent chance you'll get a plant out of it. The only "problem" is it might be a weak growth, and the time it takes to grow and flower could be a LOT longer. Basically, if you're willing to chance it, go for it! Just don't be surprised if you don't get a super healthy, overly happy plant out of it.

You will need to swap out the soil in the pots in spring as the salt makes it unusable and dispose of it somewhere that you don’t want plants to grow. For future reference, check out how the Detroit area landscape designer does her winter pots using large sheets of foam cut to size to sit inside the container. In our area, there are several annual book sales which take place over the summer which are organized for various charities. You can fill an entire bag of books for $5, as many as you can fit in the bag, if you go the last day of the sale. You could get many books for your end spaces if you have something similar in your area. I tilt my books and I also stack them laying down on some shelves to add interest. I do have some that are hidden but the books are mostly decorative anyway so it doesn't bother me (I do all my reading on a Kindle now where I can store hundreds of books)

With my plants in gritty mix there's just some particles but with my cactus soil and perlite mixed ones it's kind of brownish with some perlite pieces:)

1) Wrought iron would get hot.

2) Birds might find it awfully convenient for any number of uses, none of which would I want my drink around :-)

I came across something like that in a Pampered Chef catalog. These were called 'Outdoor Party Sticks', look to be stainless steel and stick in the ground, coiled tops to hold cups, cans, bottles. I don't think they'd be to hard to affix to a fence if you're crafty. Just a thought.

playmate cooler, it keeps your drink(s) cold and the lid keeps the bugs and dust out.
