How many tomato plants in my 4x4 'sacrifice' bed?

So this year is my first year participating in a community garden in an urban part of Cincinnati, and apparently they have had issues in the past with people stealing tomatoes from the garden, so I suggested the idea of turning an unused 4x4 raised bed into a "sacrifice" plot. I volunteered to plant it and take care of it, and I put in a few heirlooms, as well as some 4th of July tomato plants (early, abundant producers, that will hopefully catch the eye of prospective tomato thieves). In my personal bed, I spaced all of my toms 2 ft apart and caged them, but I wanted the sacrifice bed to look extra-full, so I spaced them about 1 ft apart, and just staked them. My question is, will the sacrifice bed become so overcrowded that it will not produce? The overall goal is to provide the most tomatoes in the smallest area possible, with all emphasis on quantity, and very little on quality. Should I thin it out a little, or will this spacing fulfill my goal?
