There are so many varieties of wild grapes (hundreds) I find it almost impossible to identify most of them. Generally you can fit them into a broad category at best. Then there's the possibility that it's not wild and was planted by a previous owner.
Since you said they are growing near a stream I'm going to guess they have a thick dark purple skin (when ripe) and VERY tart flavor. I've found such a variety growing near streams in my area as well. I tried desperately to identify it but with little luck. I narrowed it down to some sort of stream bank grape. If you want to take a shot at it, base the identification mainly off of the leaves, as all varieties are slightly different.

Where I amfrom (NH) we have grape vines goriwn up the yin yang. Everywhere you look grapes grapes grapes. Vines are hanging down from trees in te woods, overtaking anything they can.

The grape is a dark purple (i forgot the proper name) but the inside of the grape separates from the skin and tastes like grape jelly! They are concord grapes. I guess it depends on where you live, so if you are in new england they are most likely concord and make really delicious juice, but harbor a ton of insects.

In the early summer i also pick the leaves and use them for stuffed grape leaves. The plants are so useful in all ways.

From the look of the leaf, I'd guess Muscadines. Oh boy, they make great jelly too!
