Jing, different varieties start making blossoms at different times and it doesn't relate to how tall they are, it relates to what specifidc varieties they are and that goes back to what their genes are.

So don't worry, it will happen when and if conditions allow for it to happen.

If you watch the vines closely, you will see that they usually flower above the 5th or 7th internode on the main or central stem.

Count the internodes (joints where the leaves emerge from the main stem) from the ground up. Don't count the seed petals as those are not true leaves. Count only the true leaves that have the normal tomato leaf shape for that vine.

The distance between the internodes determines the length of the vine, so exactly how tall a vine is has little to do with when it flowers because one vine will be taller than another solely based on internode distance which can vary substantially due to hours and angle of sunlight or varietal genetics.

Most of my indeterminate vines flowered inbetween the 7th and 8th internode this spring. Even if you trim off the lower leaves of your vine, the internode knob still should be visible to count. Check yours out and let us know.
