Vine ideas for north facing lattice

Hi everyone,

I need some ideas. I have a mainly north facing deck with a lot of wood under it - (rail road ties, 2x4s etc). I plan to surround it with lattice to hide the wood (until I figure out what to do with it) and generally finish off the deck. The land is on a slope and the lattice would be between 3 and 6 feet high. Despite facing north, the deck gets both morning and afternoon sun higher up, but not much at ground level. The soil is dry and not that great (though I plan to amend it).

I'm looking for something with pretty flowers, either annual or perrenial that would be happy there. I've considered Clematis because I know it likes "cold feet" and also Grandpa Ott morning glory. But I also know both of these like full sun. Do you think either of these would work? Or is there a more shade tolerent choice?

Thanks,

BasilB
